It’s an okay upgrade. The specs are better than the PS4 anyway, but it’s using a miniaturized version of the Nvidia RTX 3080 (which was released in 2021— 4 years ago). In other words, the console is just about strong enough to do 4K gaming.
The specs and the base price of the console don’t necessarily bother me too much, what bothers me more are the shady business ethics of Nintendo. I don’t like how harsh and controlling the company is, and I don’t like that they could potentially brick your console and render it useless, even though you own the device itself.
I personally don’t plan on buying the Switch 2. I’ve been using a PC since 2018, and in 2021 I installed an RTX 3080 in it— the same technology the Switch 2 hasn’t even released with yet in 2025. PC gaming is where things will be going, especially when Steam OS comes out and comes pre-installed on pre-built gaming PCs.
